Your Zimbabwe Safari will help you to discover World Heritage listed archaeological sites, witness one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World (Victoria Falls), and cruise along the Zambezi River alongside giant African elephants and hippos.

Hwange, close to Botswana and Zambia, is the nearest large city southeast of Victoria Falls. The Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest natural reserve at 1.4 million hectares, hosting over 100 mammals and 400 bird species. It is home to elephants, giraffe, impala, lions, and wild dogs. If you’re plan your experience to visit in winter, you will be certain to catch huge herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo in the waterholes.

Lake Kariba has stunning views, incredible sunsets, fishing and boating activities, and even water sports! This is Africa’s largest man-made dam. Spend a few days here for the ultimate relaxing weekend or getaway.

Matobo National Park is considered the spiritual home of Zimbabwe and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is not only renowned for its magnificent granite landscape and balancing rock features, it also provides protection for endangered black and white rhinos!

Nyanga National Park is the oldest national park in Zimbabwe. It is home to Mount Nyangani, the highest point in Zimbabwe, and Mutarazi Falls, the highest waterfall in Zimbabwe. Definitely, a place you’ll have to add to your Africa travel itinerary!

Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, is located in the north-east. It has a pleasant subtropical highland climate with an average annual temperature of 18°C.

FAQs:

The best time to visit Zimbabwe depends on what you want to see. May–October (dry season) is ideal for safari and wildlife viewing as animals gather around waterholes, improving sightings. March–May is when Victoria Falls is at its most dramatic with high water levels, while the shoulder months can balance good weather and fewer crowds.

Zimbabwe offers excellent wildlife viewing, particularly in parks like Hwange and Zambezi National Park, where you can see elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffe and more. Dry season months often produce the best concentrations of animals near water sources.

Most visitors combine 3–7 days if focusing on Victoria Falls and a safari, or 10–14 days (or more) if exploring additional parks like Hwange, Mana Pools or cultural sites and activities beyond the Falls. Increased time also gives flexibility for game drives and scenic excursions.

Pack for varied conditions — lightweight breathable clothing during the day, warm layers for cool mornings and evenings in the dry season, and rain gear in the wet season. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and insect repellent are essentials.

Malaria risk exists in many wildlife areas, so consult a travel health specialist about malaria prophylaxis and routine vaccinations before travel. Drink safe water and protect against insect bites with repellent and long sleeves at dawn/dusk.
