Day 1: Arrive in Johannesburg -- Transfer to Hotel
On arrival at the airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
Johannesburg, or Jo'burg as the locals like to call it, is considered the vibrant heart of South Africa with its exciting cultural districts packed with theatres, restaurants, cafes and museums and is a great gateway city into this vast continent.
Day 2: Half Day Soweto Tour

Shared Day Tour
We travel to Soweto (South West Township), a sprawling cluster of townships on the South West of Johannesburg. First, panoramic city views from the footbridge of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (the largest on the continent). Stop at Nelson Mandela's humble house in Orlando West, (Mandela House Museum), containing an eclectic assortment of memorabilia, paintings and photographs of the Mandela family, and a collection of honorary doctorates bestowed on Mandela. Catch a glimpse of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s mansion in an affluent part of Orlando West – where Archbishop Tutu and the Sisulu residences are located. Visit the Hector Pieterson Memorial, in memory of those who died in the Student Uprising of June ’76.

Day 3: Kruger National Park
Departing Johannesburg at 06:30am we head into the world famous Kruger National Park. We visit the northern part of the park and stay in the Letaba area of the reserve. We enjoy an afternoon game drive in our safari vehicle and hope to spot lion, elephant, rhino and other animals in this icon of wildlife conservation.

Distance/time: ±580km, 8h00 actual driving time. It's a long day, but we want to get into Kruger for an afternoon game drive, so with stops and lunch, we expect a total travel day of ±10h30.
Overnight: Kruger National Park Chalets – we stay in national parks board chalets. 1 night Letaba – twin en suite chalets, swimming pool & restaurant. Wifi available at fee.

Day 4: Kruger National Park
This morning we wake early and game drive north through the park to the Pafuri region. The northern Kruger is dominated by mopane veld and is the domain of large elephant bulls, wild dogs and lions. As we reach the Limpopo Valley the vegetation changes to forest and birdlife is prolific.

Distance/time: ±250km, 6h30 actual driving time which is a full day game drive through Kruger so with a restful lunch break midday it's a total travel day of ±9h00 (subject to gate closing times).
Overnight: Kruger National Park Chalets – we stay in national parks board chalets. 1 night Punda Maria – twin en suite chalets, swimming pool & restaurant.

Day 5: Great Zimbabwe
Entering Zimbabwe at the Beit Bridge border post, we travel north to our overnight stop. The following morning we visit the Great Zimbabwe Monuments. These well preserved ruins are some of the oldest and largest stone structures in Southern Africa and were built during the 11th to 14th centuries. We explore these ancient stone structures on an informative walk with a local guide.

Distance/time: ±450km, 6h30 actual driving time. We need to get to Beitbridge border post as early as possible and depending on the border today (which can be slow) should be less than a ±8h30 travel day.

Day 6 and 7: Matobo National Park
Travelling via the city of Bulawayo we move on to the Matobo National Park and our chalets on the outskirts of the park. This afternoon we enjoy sundowners from the granite ridge overlooking the park. The following morning we visit World’s View and the historical site of Cecil John Rhodes’ grave. Unusual rock formations are home to an array of ancient bushman paintings which we visit while on our game drive and walk. This area is also home to Zimbabwe’s rhino which we hope to see on our excursion in the national park.

Day 8 and 9: Hwange National Park
Named after a local Nhanzwa chief, Hwange National Park is the largest Park in Zimbabwe occupying roughly 14 650 square kilometers. Hwange is famed for its large elephant population. Our chalets are in the game management area that borders the park, and we explore the park with our local guide, on a full day game drive in an open 4WD game viewing vehicle.

Overnight: Miombo Safari Lodge – for 2 nights at Hwange National Park, we stay in twin chalets with en-suite facilities, swimming pool and central boma area. Wifi available at fee.

Day 10 and 11: Victoria Falls
We enjoy a spectacular guided walk through tropical vegetation to the very edge of the “Mosi oa Tunya” or “the smoke that thunders” - Victoria Falls. There are opportunities to white water raft on the mighty Zambezi River, bungee jump or take a “flight of angels” (own expense).

Day 12: Chobe National Park
Entering Botswana, we head to the town of Kasane and our accommodation on the banks of the Chobe River. The river flows lazily along the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park attracting some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. A highlight of any trip to the Chobe is the afternoon game viewing cruise where we hope to see large herds of elephants and other wildlife as they quench their thirst at the end of the day.

Distance/time: ±85km, 1h00 actual driving time, the border crossing is relatively fast and we aim to be in Botswana before midday for a less than ±3h00 travel day.

Day 13: Nata
This morning we venture into the Chobe National Park in an open 4WD in search of big cats and elephants. Thereafter we head south through the Kasane Forest Reserve to the Nata area for our overnight stop. In the late afternoon we visit Nata Sanctuary for sunset and look out across the expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans. During dry months, the pans appear as endless white expanses, while summer rains create shallow waters that attract flamingos, pelicans, and migratory herds.

Dinner will be an own expense meal at a local restaurant.

Day 14 and 15: Okavango Delta
We transfer into the delta by open 4WD game viewing vehicle. Our local guides will take us deep into the heart of the Okavango Delta on Mokoro (dugout canoes) to our pre-erected tented camp. The delta forms as rainwater from the Angolan highlands flows out over the flat Kalahari Desert sands, forming a delicate, green oasis for birds and wildlife. Our camp is on a remote island in this amazingly dynamic environment and we enjoy bush walks, bird watching and swimming in the clear waters. Camping with our local guides we learn more about their lifestyle and culture.

Distance/time: ±340km, 4h30 actual driving time, followed by a 4x4 transfer and then a mekoro trip for a total travel day of ±7h00.
Overnight: 2 x nights Okavango Delta – wilderness tented camping - 2 nights tented camp in the Okavango. Each tent has twin camp beds with linen and an en suite chemical toilet. Shared bucket shower tent with hot water off the fire. Tents have built-in insect nets.
We need to take our own water and all equipment. Wild tented camping can be very enjoyable but please remember that we leave no trace of our stay and take all rubbish away with us. The wilderness tented camp supplies all linen blankets and pillows. The camp chairs have a backrest. You will need to bring your own towel. Wifi not available.

Day 16: Okavango Delta to Maun
Returning to Maun in the afternoon of day 16 there is time for an optional scenic flight over the Okavango (own expense).

Day 17: Fly from Maun to Cape Town - Transfer to Hotel
After breakfast, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the airport for your flight to Cape Town. The flight is not included in the tour price as this needs to be quoted at time of booking. Your consultant will discuss this option with you but the the price is approximately AUD $450 per person.

Day 18: Half Day City & Table Mountain Tour
Duration: Approximately 4.5 hours

Experience the highlights of the city with a drive through the city center taking in the famous landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope, City Hall and the Grand Parade. You will get to see St. George’s Cathedral, pass by the Company Gardens and then the Malay Quarter (also known as the Bo-Kaap). Continue to join a sparkling tour to witness the art of diamond cutting and learning the history of the diamond and gold trade in South Africa. You will then be offered the option to continue to Table Mountain, where you can ascend to the top by revolving cable car (weather permitting & Cable car ticket excluded) to enjoy a birds-eye view of the city and its beaches. *Table Mountain may be closed due to maintenance, weather, or environmental conditions. In such cases, Signal Hill will be offered as an alternative.

Day 19: Full Day Cape Peninsula Tour

Get ready for a day of breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences! This journey to Cape Point, the southwestern tip of the Cape Peninsula, offers some of the world’s most spectacular views. Travel along the Atlantic coast, through Sea Point and Camps Bay, with stunning vistas of the Twelve Apostles. Stop at Hout Bay, where you can opt for a boat trip to Seal Island to see Cape Fur Seals (time permitting & own account). Explore the Cape Point Nature Reserve, home to unique wildlife like baboons, bontebok, and Cape Mountain zebras, as well as rich birdlife. Witness the dramatic coastline and the legendary meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. On the return, visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach (own account) and pass through charming Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek. End the tour with views of iconic landmarks like Rhodes Memorial and Groote Schuur Hospital.

Day 20: Full Day Winelands Tour

Your day starts with a visit to Paarl to enjoy the beauty of the valley and see the Pearl of Paarl high above the valley before experiencing a wine tasting and cellar tour at one of the local estates. Continue to the beautiful village of Franschhoek which was founded in 1688 by French immigrants, a memorial in the town commemorates the arrival of these early settlers who helped develop the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck, and royalty such as Edward VII, the Prince of Wales. Here we will stop for lunch (own account) and another wine tasting at a local vineyard. Head to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and the historic heart of the country's wine region. A gracious blend of 18th-century Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian buildings is evident on Dorp Street, where massive oaks still shade original water furrows. Enjoy a final wine tasting before returning to Cape Town.

Day 21: Depart Cape Town
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy your final hours in Cape Town at your own pace. Depending on your flight time, you may have a chance for a last stroll through the city, a quick coffee with views of the harbor, or one last photo from Table Mountain or the waterfront. When it’s time, a representative will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to Cape Town Airport. Say goodbye to your fellow travellers, carrying with you memories of spectacular landscapes, wildlife encounters, and cultural discoveries.
