Start this 11 day adventure in the cosmopolitan city of Santiago before heading south to the solar eclipse event. Explore the imposing volcanoes, azure waterfalls and postcard perfect scenery of the lakes district, finishing in the German-influenced lakeside tow of Puerto Varas. Relax in the luxurious surrounds of Alto Atacama in the far north, taking time to explore the otherworldly and captivating landscape of the famous Atacama Desert, with some the best stargazing on earth!

On arrival at Santiago airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to head out this afternoon and evening to explore the city at your leisure.
During your city tour we explore the historical and modern sights of Santiago de Chile. We start our trip at the main avenue Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins by visiting La Moneda, the Government Palace, where we will learn about the historical and current importance of this place. Next enjoy a walk through the pedestrian streets of Huérfanos and Ahumada, where the main commercial activity of the city is concentrated. Afterwards, we will visit the famous main square of the city called Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other historical buildings.
Continue to Santa Lucia hill, the mount upon which the Spanish founded Santiago in 1541. It is a lone steep rock, with many plants and an antique building rising steeply from the city below. Then, we will cross the Mapocho River to get to Bellavista, the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Santiago. Bellavista lies at the foot of the San Cristóbal Hill, the highest in town, in the middle of the Metropolitan Park.We will go up the hill to explore the surroundings while enjoying beautiful panoramic views of the city. Finally, we will visit Providencia with its top restaurants, elegant shops and modern high-rise buildings.
After this amazing tour we will call it a day and return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
At the scheduled time today you will be met at your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Temuco. On arrival you will be transferred by road to Hotel Landhaus Pucon, a journey of around 2-3 hours.
Today we will witness the total solar eclipse that will take place at approximately 13:00 hrs. The viewing site is locates a 10 minute walk from the Landhaus Hotel. It’s set on a hill, providing a clear view of the sky, with only small trees and no buildings in sight, for máximum visibility of the eclipse. It is a closed location, the property belongs to the Hotel, so access is limited to the Hotel gusts.
Here, we will be able to witness the total solar eclipse that will take place at approximately 13:00 hrs During this time, you will also be treated to a delicious barbeque lunch prepared with local ingredients.

This excursion will begin once we leave Pucón and drive an hour to reach the Villarrica National Park. There we will go on an 8km (total) trek over an amazing path filled with the wonders of this region. Throughout this medium difficulty journey, we will find volcanic rocks, local vegetation and colorful forests that will surely captivate us. A light lunch will be supplied.
If lucky, we will also spot several birds that will accompany us with their melodic sounds. We will enjoy outstanding views of pristine lakes, large craters and the Villarrica, Llaima and Nevados de Sollipulli volcanoes. Last but certainly not least we will visit volcanic caves, full of evidence of the last eruption. From there, we will return to our starting point and to our hotel.

Following breakfast it's time to enjoy another one of Patagonia's signature stunning road trips. You will travel the Seven Lakes Route from Puerto Varas to Pucon, taking in even more breathtaking views and photo stops.

On this delightful excursion we will head towards the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. Along the way we will make a variety of small stops including: Mirador Los Riscos (a beautiful lookout point featuring the Osorno Volcano) and Mirador Onces Bellavista (a nice spot to observe llamas, deer and emus). Once inside the park we will pass a lagoon home to the famous Torrent duck and then continue on to the Petrohue River and the Petrohue Waterfalls. There we will take time to explore our surroundings to the fullest and take some beautiful pictures.
Afterwards we will continue a little further up the path and arrive to the Todos Los Santos Lake where will take a 30 minute boat ride across the emerald water. Next we return to the vehicle for a 40 minute drive to reach the famous Osorno Volcano. Once there we will take a small trek to a lookout point where we can admire from a distance the Llanquihue Lake and its surroundings. A few steps further we will reach the notable Burbuja Crater and a little further up the volcano we will be able to appreciate the Rojo Crater, both impressive and remarkable.
After a full and happy day we will return back to the hotel.

This morning you will be taken to Puerto Montt airport by private vehicle for your flight to Calama via Santiago. On arrival in Calama you will be transferred by road for 2 hours to San Pedro de Atacama and your lodge, Alto Atacama. From the moment you arrive, the Alto Atacama team will take care of you. The expert guides and crew are able to make anyone feel at home in the middle of one of the driest deserts in the world. Among other things, you will have the chance to feel in harmony with the landscape. By implementing the principles of the “Leave No Trace” outdoor system, you will leave the places you travel to as untouched as before you arrived. On outings, both bikes and vans must keep to the roads marked. Depending on your arrival time, you may take an excursion or relax and enjoy your desert oasis.

The first traces of human activity in the area date back more than 10 thousand years. Since then, the Atacama Desert has continued to be a hub of human interaction, a commercial crossroads for Andean peoples and a proud cradle of Ancient cultural heritage.

Alto Atacama's location is a spot to observe in peace the magnificent spectacle of stars, planets, galaxies, constellations and nebulae that have left us wondering since the dawn of time.
