Day 1: Arrival Day
Individual transfer by Flybus shuttle bus from Keflavik airport to your accommodation in Reykjavik. You may explore Iceland’s capital city on your own if time allows.
Day 2: Lava, Fjords & Heritage
We convene with our tour guide early in the morning and set off towards the west. Our first stop brings us to Grábrók, a 3,400-year-old volcanic crater, providing us with a glimpse into Iceland’s ancient geological history. Following this, we pause for a delightful lunch break in the picturesque coastal town of Búðardalur.
Continuing our expedition, we trace the majestic fjords of Ísafjarðardjúp, treating ourselves to breathtaking vistas along the way. Our next stop brings us to Litlibær, a rare surviving turf house in Iceland, now transformed into a quaint café and museum.
As the afternoon unfolds, we arrive at Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords, where we will be based for the next three nights. As night descends, we prepare for an exhilarating Northern Lights hunt under the star-studded sky!
Day 3: Beautiful West Fjords
Our day commences with a visit to Dynjandi waterfall, renowned as one of Iceland’s most magnificent natural wonders. Its tiered structure creates a mesmerizing cascade of smaller falls, a sight that truly takes one’s breath away. Continuing our journey along the coastline and fjords, we reach the picturesque pier of Önundarfjörður. Extending gracefully from a golden beach into the water, the pier offers panoramic views of the majestic mountains.
Following a rejuvenating nature walk, we indulge in a delightful meal. Then, we meander through the enchanting town of Ísafjörður, adorned with vibrant houses and cobblestone streets, steeped in both history and cultural significance. Throughout the year, this town hosts numerous festivals and celebrations, adding to its allure.
As dusk settles, we attire ourselves for another opportunity to witness the captivating Northern Lights dance across the sky.
Day 4: Maritime marvels & Flateyri village
Our day kicks off with a visit to the meticulously restored fishing hut at Ósvör Maritime Museum, offering insights into the bygone era of rowboat fishing and the arduous lives led in isolated fishing communities during the 19th century. Next, we venture to Flateyri village, where we’ll explore a hidden treasure, Gamla bókabúðin or “The Old Bookstore”. Operating since 1914, this quaint establishment is a haven for unique souvenirs and showcases traditional Icelandic design at its pinnacle. Delving deeper into Flateyri’s history, we learn about the tragic avalanche of 1995 and visit the protective barriers erected to shield the locals from future calamities.
As evening descends, we embark on a leisurely stroll in pursuit of the ethereal spectacle of the Arctic sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of the captivating Aurora Borealis.
Day 5: Enchantment & Culinary Delights
Our journey today transports us to the charming village of Hólmavík and its Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft. Immerse yourself in the captivating history and folklore surrounding witchcraft and sorcery in Iceland, as you explore a vast collection of artifacts including ancient grimoires, ritual objects, and the intriguing Icelandic magical staves, believed to possess protective and mystical properties. Following a day filled with intriguing discoveries, we make our way to the secluded Vogur Country Lodge in West Iceland. Nestled amidst pristine surroundings, this overnight destination offers a tranquil setting ideal for Northern Lights observation, so make sure to stay up late and enjoy the celestial spectacle!
Day 6: Ring Road and Iceland's North Adventure
Today, our focus shifts to the iconic Ring Road as we press on with our journey, signaling the start of our island exploration and the beginning of our Guided Iceland tour.
Venturing further north, our itinerary leads us to Glaumbær, renowned as one of Iceland’s most captivating turf house farms and folk museums. Continuing through stunning fjord landscapes and traversing multiple mountain passes, we eventually arrive at Akureyri, the bustling capital of North Iceland. Here, our overnight stay allows ample time to fully experience the charm of Akureyri and discover its myriad attractions.
Day 7: Exploring the Capital of North Iceland, Lake Mývatn, and Geothermal Baths
In the morning, take time to explore Akureyri, often referred to as the capital of North Iceland, and marvel at the sweeping panoramic vista overlooking the Eyjafjörður fjord.
For those interested, optional whale watching tours depart at 09:00.
During the afternoon, venture to Goðafoss, the majestic “waterfalls of the Gods.” Afterwards, delve into the wonders of Lake Mývatn, renowned for its geological marvels and diverse birdlife. Witness the peculiar lava formations at Kálfaströnd, the intriguing pseudo craters at Skútustaðir, and the imposing tephra cone known as Hverfjall. Conclude the afternoon with a rejuvenating soak in the geothermal waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Day 8: Exploring Lava Formations, Hot Springs, and Journeying East
Begin your morning with a stroll through the captivating lava formations of Dimmuborgir, also known as “the dark castles,” where legend has it that trolls reside. Keep an eye out for these mythical creatures as you navigate the labyrinthine paths.
In the afternoon, venture to the hot spring area of Námaskarð, where bubbling mud pools and steaming solfataras create a surreal landscape. Traverse through the desolate highlands, reminiscent of a lunar environment, as you make your way towards East Iceland.
Day 9: Exploring the East Fjords, Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach
Today offers a splendid opportunity to marvel at the striking fjord landscape, dotted with quaint fishing villages nestled at the end of winding roads in the East Fjords. Along the way, we will visit a captivating stone and mineral collection, adding to the allure of the journey.
In the afternoon, we will be awestruck by the sight of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, visible from various vantage points throughout Southeast Iceland. Our day culminates with a visit to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where floating icebergs create a mesmerizing scene. Here, we may even catch a glimpse of seals gracefully swimming in the Arctic waters. From May through September, the program includes a boat tour amidst the floating icebergs. Take a leisurely stroll along the black sandy shores of Diamond Beach, where large icebergs come to rest.

Day 10: Exploring Vatnajökull National Park & the South Coast
Today, delve into the wonders of Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s second-largest glacier and Iceland’s highest mountains, offering a glimpse into a pristine alpine environment.
In the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive along the South Coast, where a tapestry of natural marvels awaits. Traverse the vast Eldhraun lava field and journey across the sandy expanses of the coastal desert, framed by towering cliffs, glaciers, and cascading waterfalls. Experience the mesmerizing Icelandic Lava Show, immersing yourself in the intense heat and spectacle of molten lava. Take a leisurely stroll along the black lava beach of Reynisfjara near Vík. Discover the awe-inspiring Skógafoss waterfall, standing at an impressive 60 meters high in the charming village of Skógar. Then, continue to the elegant yet slender Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where a thrilling trail beckons behind the cascading veil of water—be prepared to get wet for an unforgettable adventure!

Day 11: Icelandic Horses & the Golden Circle
Today, set forth on a journey through Icelandic classics as we venture to explore the iconic sights of the Golden Circle. Our adventure commences at Friðheimar, where you’ll immerse yourself in the captivating world of the Icelandic horse, gaining insight into its distinct qualities and storied past, while also having the opportunity to visit a geothermal greenhouse.
Later in the day, marvel at the steam rising from the Geysir geothermal fields upon our arrival. Here, you’ll encounter a variety of hot springs and bubbling pools. While the original geyser now lies dormant, it has been succeeded by Strokkur, known as “the Churn,” which erupts at impressive intervals of 5-7 minutes.
Continuing our journey, we’ll be captivated by Gullfoss, also known as “the Golden Falls,” a magnificent double waterfall cascading 32 meters into the Hvítá river, drawing travellers year-round with its breathtaking beauty. Venturing inland, we arrive at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its historical and geological significance.
Upon our return to Reykjavík, we’ll treat you to a brief city tour, showcasing the highlights of the world’s northernmost capital.
Northern Lights enthusiasts will have the opportunity to book optional evening tours, depending on favourable weather conditions.
