FAQs:

The journey begins with a flight from Australia to mainland Ecuador, typically via Santiago with a short stop in Auckland, arriving into Quito or Guayaquil. From there, a domestic flight takes you to Baltra or San Cristóbal Island, where your Galápagos cruise or land adventure begins. Our specialists can help you piece the connections together with minimal fuss.

The Galápagos Islands sit right on the equator, making them a genuine year-round destination with wildlife to see whatever month you travel. The islands experience two seasons: dry and warm.

The dry season (June to November) brings the Humboldt Current, drawing more fish and predators such as seabirds, penguins, humpback whales and whale sharks into the surrounding waters. Air temperatures sit between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius, with water between 16 and 24 degrees.

The warm season (December to May) brings the Panama Current and is the islands’ breeding season, with mating rituals, sea turtle nests, sea lion pups and hammerhead sharks all on show. Expect sporadic rain, heaviest in January and April, alongside sunnier days and calmer seas. Air temperatures range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, with water between 21 and 28 degrees.

Our team can help you plan your Galápagos adventure around the wildlife experiences that matter most to you.

Getting to the Galápagos Islands from Australia can take a couple of days of travel. Galápagos cruises range from 4 to 17 days, depending on how much of the archipelago you would like to explore. Shorter cruises such as the 4 Day Grand Majestic Yacht: Central & South focus on islands closer to San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz, while longer options such as the 17 Day Yolita: Complete Galápagos venture further west and north to explore the islands in greater depth. For those who prefer to set their own pace, land-based itineraries are also available, staying at island hotels and can be tailored to any length of time.

A cruise means living aboard a small ship that travels between islands overnight, so you wake up somewhere new each day and make the most of every hour on shore. A land-based tour has you staying in island hotels, typically on Santa Cruz or San Cristóbal, and taking day trips by boat, which can suit travellers who prefer a steady base or want more flexibility with their budget. We’re happy to talk through which style would suit you best.

Prices vary greatly depending on the length of stay, time of travel and the level of the cruise or hotel. In 2026, land-based itineraries start from roughly AUD $2,400pp with our 4 Day Santa Cruz Express Island Hopping tour. For cruises, prices range from roughly AUD $2,600pp on a short trip like the 4 Day Galaxy Orion: Galápagos Express, up to roughly AUD $32,300pp for the 12 Day Hermes Galápagos Catamaran: Western, Central and East. Whatever your budget, our team can help find the right fit.
