Responsible Tourism

Responsible & Community Based Tourism

The health of the environment is of concern to us all and at Eclipse Travel we have a firm commitment to minimising the environmental and social impact of travel both at home and abroad. We endeavour to ensure that a visit from an Eclipse Travel client has a positive effect on the destination and actively encourage our clients to participate in reputable conservation initiatives whilst on their holidays.

Quick tips on responsible travel etiquette

Respect Your Hosts – Take the time to understand local culture and customs so you can respect them.

Buy Local – Try to support the locals by buying as much locally made goods as you can.

Go Gently – Ensure you try to leave no trace of physical impact on your surroundings at all.

Waste and Recycling – Be conscious of how much waste you create and recycle where possible.

Water Use – Limit the use of water with short showers and less laundry. Refill a bottle for drinking.

Power Use – Don’t take liberties with power such as overusing air conditioning and lighting.

We impress our mission upon our service providers too, so that they can participate in conservation initiatives and only select and train exceptional local guides who exhibit best practices. We support partners both at home and abroad who are actively working on social causes which we are most passionate about.

This includes reducing and preventing poverty, pollution prevention and cleaning up the world, and conservation practices which help to preserve some of the spectacular locations we work with around the world and to save the incredible wildlife within them.

Charity Support

Eclipse Travel actively supports a variety of projects around the world. Our guiding principles are that we participate and contribute to two main causes which we feel that as a tour operator we have an obligation to be actively involved in:

  • Poverty – We are an organisation that is passionate about alleviating poverty and suffering around the world. We heavily believe in investment in education as a way to reduce poverty along with reduction of food wastage.
  • Conservation – Amongst other things we want to support charities who contribute to the preservation, restoration and protection of our spectacular planet and the amazing wildlife within it. We believe in such things as eliminating plastic pollution and finding a way to clear our oceans, reducing the destruction of natural environments and wildlife conservation.

Some of the charities we are currently investing in can be found below. We encourage you to read about their stellar work and contribute wherever you can.
