Following weeks of tightening water restrictions and a sustained effort of all residents of Cape Town and the Western Cape region to save water, Cape Town may not run out of water this year after all, that is, if the city doesn’t relax its water-saving efforts.
The previously mentioned ‘Day Zero’ (which was the date when the City of Cape Town would cut the regular flow of water) has now been removed, but prudence still needs to be maintained in water use. The current water restrictions are still in place and will not change for the moment however as they head into our rainy season, this is expected to be downgraded.
This comes as fantastic news not only for the residents of the region but for the South African Tourism Industry as a whole. Cape Town, the provincial capital of the Western Cape, is one of South Africa‘s most iconic tourist destinations.
