Upon arrival, you will be met by a Traveline representative at the Luxor Airport arrivals hall, who will assist you with your luggage. Your private English-speaking guide will then accompany you to visit the Karnak and Luxor Temples before checking in at your hotel.

Explore the spiritual and historical richness of ancient Thebes on a private half-day tour of Karnak and Luxor Temples, two of Egypt’s most celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Begin at Karnak Temple, a monumental complex of towering columns, intricate carvings, and grand obelisks that embody more than two millennia of devotion to Egypt’s gods and rulers.

Luxor Temple offers a captivating blend of ancient and living history. Built to honor the rejuvenation of kingship, it played a key role in religious rituals like the Opet Festival. Its significance continued into the Roman era, when it served as a fortress and administrative center. Adding to its unique character, the Abu Haggag Mosque, built in the 13th century, still stands within the temple complex. This rare coexistence of Pharaonic and Islamic heritage reflects Egypt’s extraordinary cultural continuity. With your private Egyptologist guide, discover the architectural beauty, religious importance, and fascinating layers of history that make these temples unforgettable.

After the tour, your Egyptologist guide will accompany you back to your hotel.

Temple of Hatshepsut: Visit the stunning mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs. Admire its terraced design and beautifully carved reliefs depicting her reign and divine birth.
Colossi of Memnon: Stop to see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, standing guard over the Theban Necropolis. These iconic monuments offer excellent photo opportunities and a sense of ancient grandeur.
This combination provides a comprehensive insight into the royal and religious life of ancient Egypt.

After the tour, your Egyptologist guide will accompany you back to your hotel.

Breakfast included.

Day 6 - Luxor: Esna, Edfu & Kom Ombo from Luxor & End in Aswan

Esna, Edfu & Kom Ombo from Luxor & End in Aswan
Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide will greet you at your hotel and take you first to visit the Temple of Esna. The city of Esna, formerly the ancient city of Senat, was called Latopolis by the Greeks. It was 'the city of the fish' where the Nile perch fish was worshipped as divine. Dedicated to the worship of the ram-headed god Khnum (God of creation), the colorful decoration inside the temple is still well preserved as part of the structure was buried under its own debris for centuries.
Next, you will visit the Edfu Temple, the second largest temple in Egypt. Dedicated to the chief god Horus, the temple was built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information about language and culture during the Hellenistic period.
Then you will head to the Kom Ombo Temple, one of the Nile Valley's most beautifully situated temples with panoramic waterside views. Once an ancient medical center, the temple is famous for the surgical instruments depicted on its walls. It is dedicated to two gods, the local crocodile god Sobek and Haroeris (Horus the Elder).

After the tour, your Egyptologist guide will accompany you back to your hotel.

Day 7 - Aswan: Visit Philae Temple, High Dam, and Unfinished Obelisk / Felucca Ride Including Botanical Garden

Visit Philae Temple, High Dam, and Unfinished Obelisk
Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide will greet you at your hotel for your tour of three of Aswan's most interesting sites.
Built in 1960, the colossal Aswan High Dam separates the Nile from Lake Nasser and provides water to all of Egypt. It was considered a 'miracle of engineering', using more than 16 times more stone than used to build the Great Pyramid at Giza.
The tour will move on to view the impressive granite quarries, which are the source of stone for many of Egypt's great monuments. You will get an up-close look at the unfinished Obelisk, created from the largest piece of stone ever handled. If finished, it would have reached around 138 feet high and would have weighed more than 200 elephants!
From there, you will travel by motorboat to the Philae Temple's delightful island home. The temple, built in homage to the goddess Isis, evolved over a period of 300 years during the Ptolemaic dynasty. The plural Philae is the name of two adjacent islands, mentioned by numerous ancient writers, including Ptolemy and Pliny the Elder. Said to be one of the burial places of Osiris, the main island was held in high reverence by the ancient Egyptians. Legend states that 'no birds flew over, and no fish approached its shores'. Philae is also remarkable for the effects of light and shade resulting from its position close to the Tropic of Cancer. As the sun becomes high in the sky, the cornices and moldings of the temple appear to sink lower and lower on the walls until overspread with dark shadows, forming a striking contrast with the bright sunlight illuminating the area around.

After the tour, your Egyptologist guide will accompany you back to your hotel.

Felucca Ride Including Botanical Garden
Your expert local guide will meet you at your hotel to escort you to climb aboard for your journey to Kitchener's Island, home of the stunning Aswan Botanical Gardens. The island was given to Lord Kitchener in the 1890's, and it allowed him to indulge his passion for exotic palms and plants - creating a lush landscape of flora and fauna. Covering 6.8 hectares, the riverside gardens showcase plants imported from the Far East, India and parts of Africa.

After the tour, your Egyptologist guide will accompany you back to your hotel.

Day 8 - Aswan: Abu Simbel Excursion / Fly Aswan to Cairo / Arrive in Cairo

Abu Simbel Excursion
This morning you will go on the guided Abu Simbel excursion by air (approx 4 hours). You will be transferred to Aswan Airport for a short flight to Abu Simbel where you will spend a few hours admiring the incredible rock-cut tombs on the shore of Lake Nasser.

Built as royal tombs, the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor are two of Egypt's most revered archaeological sites. Marvel at the enormous sandstone statues carved into the temple facades and explore the fascinating interiors that are decorated with art and intricate hieroglyphics at your own pace. The Abu Simbel Temples were originally carved into solid rock cliffs. During the 1960's, an extraordinary feat of engineering took place to move the temples to protect them from the rising waters of the Nile and Lake Nasser.

Fly back to Aswan Airport at the end of the tour.

Continue to the nearby Sultan Hassan Mosque, a masterpiece of Mamluk architecture renowned for its grand scale and intricate design. Just opposite, you’ll visit the Rifai Mosque, resting place of Egyptian royalty and other notable figures, blending 19th-century elegance with classical Islamic style.
